Designed and Developed a game with our instructor and kids, via the theme and idea we discussed along side with our assigned teacher.
Theme was Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics
Gamification - 1) Learn to solve difficult puzzle situations with 2D representations of real life simple machines. 2) Star rating system to measure their progression. 3) Stresses kids to think of physics and how to interact with simple machines to achieve a goal.
Received more than 5 different 2D graphic game assets from the kids
Received more than 5 different 2D audio game assets from the kids (Being Implemented)
Programming idea (Being Implemented)
2) Simple machines, Math, and Problem Solving made fun. 3) Changes made over the semester:
Tool bar change
Math system added
4) Goal Orientation, Expected and Unexpected Achievements
Experiences: - Having kids giggle and laugh because they are enjoying the game. Best Feeling. - I experienced that kids are smarter than I thought. - Watching the kids talk and plan their strategies out together. Honestly thinking about the problem, and adjusting their solution based on what didn't work. Then using what they learned on later puzzles. That was pretty cool.

Upcoming Plans:
** We met with our teacher Monday and let the kids play test the functional Alpha. After receiving some positive feedback from both the kids and the teacher, we discovered some things need changing. **
- After watching the kids play, decided the magnets need a radius indicator that show how close objects need to be in order for magnetism to start working. - Different computers strongly affect whether a level can be completed due to the constant resize of 2D art and needs to be strongly addressed. - Teacher recommended instead of a bar with the correct items needed, there is a bar with all of our simple machines. This forces the kids to read through our codex, and problem solve which machine will work best for the puzzle.
- Change tool bar to give player option for all simple machines (Andrew) - Re-Design puzzles to work with either multiple machines or one machine (Cody) - Finish Gear functionality to affect other gears properly (LaDarius) - Complete the Simple Machine Codex to start implementation virtually (Robert)
March 9th Update:
- New tool bar added (Andrew) - Organized Project and Level Prefab for smoother level creation (Andrew) - Kinematic and Dynamic Gears that move accordingly and properly based on gears around them (LaDarius) - Changed Toggle [Switch] to on/off ability (LaDarius) - Art Assets (Cody) - Simple Machine Virtual Codex / Help Menu(Robert)
Plans for Next Week:
